A bigger throttle body wont automatically increase power. It will only increase power if the factory throttle is a restriction in the intake(99% of the time it isnt), normally its the least restrictive part of an intake system Plug any of these as a result of your cleaning and have problems. Also some throttle bodies come with a throttle plate that has a coating on its edge to better seal in the throttle body. Solvents can remove this coating. There's a product sold that can repair this but I have no knowledge of how well it works or how to do the repair When you consider that a throttle body is just a valve, it's easy to understand how a performance throttle body yields quicker throttle response. Most auto manufacturers measure airflow at peak rpm's, then choose a throttle body diameter to ensure that 50% throttle will produce exactly 50% airflow Just get the same year throttle cable as the tb is. I think they run about 30$ at the stealership. Sometimes you don't need to to do this, but most times you will. All of the sensors are the same between the tb's so that's a no brainer. In this scenario, it went from a stock throttle body to a fast 90mm throttle body. That that cause me to increase or decrease the Desired IAC Steps vs. Desired Idle Effective Area table All in all, I'm definitely happy with the end results. True, that's a lot of money for a throttle body, and although I'd still recommend a set of headers/exhaust/gears before I'd recommend a larger throttle body, I can now honestly say, that a larger T.B. will definitely NOT hurt performance on a bolt-on LT1, only improve it 7th Gen Throttle Body Cleaning - 2.4L. The only time a throttle body spacer works is on carbureated and throttle body injected engines. They work because the fuel and air get mixed before they go through the spacer. But on a standard fuel injected engine only air is going through the top throttle body and no mixture happens until inside the cylinder Notes: We did see a 5hp difference with a 62mm throttle body on a 4.0L with a cold air intake and exhaust modifications and believe the increase would be larger with other airflow enhancements.
A throttle body spacer will move the opening of the throttle body away from its stock location. Since K&N develops intake kits on vehicles with a throttle body in the factory location, the addition of a spacer would add length to the intake tube, pushing it away from its mounting points-and possibly causing the tube to come loose, come into. The throttle body was very dirty and came up like new after a clean. After putting it all back together the tickover is now around 650rpm and the throttle response does seem improved. I'd only do the throttle body AFTER I do the turbo. Just my two cents. I just don't think for the $500-600 I've seen them go for (the FP ones), you're going to see that much of a difference in actual horsepower increase, only less turbo lag like @Joshua Iiams says The injectors won't make any difference unless you end up with a fuel problem in the mapping. Proceed to clean the inside of the body opening. The throttle body is an important part of the vehicle that allows air to flow into the engine. As with all combustion, air is required for an engine to fire properly. Generally, the more air flow available, the higher the power output of an engine will be. The throttle body contains two flaps which can open or close
The only difference is that the supercharged engine has an off-center location for the throttle body that necessitates a different plumbing geometry downstream of the filter. Although one person speculates that we commonized the filter elements to save money, that is certainly not the case Thanks for the info.
